Khotso Mokoena claimed Team South Africa’s first medal at the Beijing Olympics, winning a silver medal in the men’s long jump event. Congratulations!

Mokoena narrowly lost out on the gold to 2007 World Champion Irving Saladino from Panama, but managed to hold onto the silver with a jump of 8.24 (27-0 1/2)

The event also marked Panama’s first ever gold at any Olympics.

Congratulations Mr. Mokoena, South Africa salutes you!
